Most people in Pakistan are Muslims and Jinnah's imagined secular state has become increasingly theocratic after decades of dictatorships and official Islamism. Christians, particularly the poor belonging to the agricultural center and north of the country, are considered outcasts by many and find themselves pushed to the edge of society.

An Announcement

Seven people Sri Lanka join the Lahore-Ahmaidyya Movement on the same day.

The Lahore-Ahmadiyya continues to go from strength. It's expansion has increased many times since Ahmadis were declared to be kafirs (heretics) by the government of Pakistan and, some years ago, severe restrictions placed on its activities. This brings to light the real reason for banning us from printing our literature in Pakistan - the fear that if people find out our real beliefs then they will incline to join us.

"As Jewish survivors and descendants of survivors and victims of the Nazi genocide, we unequivocally condemn the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza and the ongoing occupation and colonisation of historic Palestine. We further condemn the United States for providing Israel with the funding to carry out the attack, and western states more generally for using their diplomatic muscle to protect Israel from condemnation. Genocide begins with the silence of the world."

Building stronger ties with the people of Pakistan has long been a personal commitment of mine. In the Senate, I was privileged to sponsor what became known as the Kerry-Lugar-Berman Bill, which continues to provide support for a more stable, peaceful, and prosperous Pakistan.
